WebClacks Canyon was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of Mormon settlers. The settlers were looking for a place to build a new community and found the area to be ideal for their needs. The settlers named the area Clacks Canyon after the nearby Clacks Canyon Creek. The creek was named after a local Native American chief, Chief Clacks.
