WebOct 1, 2015 · This study posits that, while the inbound open innovation role of a firm's innovation base necessarily depends on the amount of external knowledge, firms must create well-developed instruments to access the value of external knowledge. This study makes several theoretical contributions to innovation research. WebHowever, few studies have investigated the implications of small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) adoption of open innovation. We address this research gap by investigating the effects of four inbound open innovation activities on innovation performance of SMEs. In doing so, we draw on data from 252 high-tech SMEs.
