Phospholamban heart
WebPhospholamban (PLN) plays a key role in calcium handling in heart muscle cells and as such impacts on proper contraction and relaxation of the heart. Carriers of the PLN p.Arg14del pathogenic variant have a high risk of developing dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and/or arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) that may develop into heart failure. WebPhospholamban Cardiomyopathy (PLN, or the c.40_42del gene mutation) is a genetic heart muscle disease that can cause life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias. There are 2 types of gene mutations: gene carriers can have the DCM variant (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) or the ACM one (Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy).
